The Irish Treatment Benefit Scheme offers a grant towards hearing aids to encourage healthy hearing. Your entitlement to the grant is based on your P.R.S.I. contributions. The grant scheme has recently changed and now offers a flat contribution of €500 for one aid, and €1000 for two. If you are employed, self-employed or retired, and have paid the required number of PRSI contributions*, you should qualify for the grant.
The grant will also pay the full cost of repairs to aids, up to a maximum of €100. Even if you have availed of the grant before, you may well be entitled to it again. The scheme recognises that hearing aid technologies change rapidly and the grant is available every four years.
